Cate Karjalainen Benefit Football Game

January 22nd 2010 – 4:00pm

The Island County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Oak Harbor Police Department will be holding a benefit football game for Cate Karjalainen. The football game will take place at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Oak Harbor, Washington on Saturday, January 22nd. The football game will kick off at 4:00pm. This year’s losing team will be required to wear pink uniforms at next years event. Entrance will be free with a suggested donation at each exit. Concessions will include pulled pork sandwiches, ham sandwiches, chili dogs, coffee, donuts, and popcorn. The “friendly” flag football game will feature high school officials. There will be paramedics present as well as the county coroner. This should be an evening of great fun and laughter for the whole family. Unique penalties will be introduced including speeding, illegally parked (for older officers), texting while tackling, cracked or illegal equipment, and many more. The participants hope that this will become an annual event to raise cancer awareness and to help another Whidbey Island connected family with an infant who has a catastrophic illness or disease.

This is our first fundraiser for the Karjalainen Family!

The party will be in the downstairs area of the Chicken Coop. Cost is $10.00 per person, this includes a meal and beer. There will be a silent auction and a 50/50 drawing. There will also be other fund raising items to purchase at the party. Anyone and everyone is invited, children are welcome. Costumes are requested but not required. Let’s help raise some money and have some fun! Please spread the word.

November 13th 2010 – 5:00pm to 7:00pm

We are having a spaghetti dinner and silent auction on November 13th at Powellhurst Baptist church. The address is 3435 SE 112th, Portland, OR 97266. The dinner is from 5:00-7:00. The silent auction starts at 5, and the winning bids will be announced starting at 7. Dinner and auction tickets are $10.00 for individuals, and $30.00 for families. November 19th 2010 – 5:00pm

On November 19 at the Coupeville (WA) Rec Hall there will be a Concert and Dance and silent auction to raise funds for Cathryn Karjalainen. Starting at 5PM the Band “Jacob’s Road” will be volunteering their time and talents. Many great items and services have been donated for the silent auction: A beach Cabin weekend Oregon Coast, A 2 person chartered deep sea fishing trip, a whole house professional carpet cleaning,Blown Art Glass,Hair styling, and a bunch more! November 21st 2010 – 8:00pm

Please come join us at Someday Lounge on Sunday Nov 21,2010, for a fundraiser concert at 8pm. We are trying to raise money for Cathryn Jean Kerjalainen aka Cate. She was recently diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a cancer most commonly found in infants. Close to 50 percent of neuroblastoma cancer occurs in children younger than the age of two years old. Cate was diagnosed at the age of eight months.

We have five bands playing. Portland’s very own up and coming Violet Isle. They are led by front man singer/song writer Sean Garcia. The band has helped out during other benefits, and have a great reputation in the city of Portland after releasing their debut album “I AM IVY”. Also Huston and Ruby Hill.

A Day for Cate

December 10th 2010 – 10:00am to 10:00pm

“A Day for Cate” will feature numerous events including: a High Tea, two silent auctions, and a dance to the classic rock sounds of “Jacob’s Road.” This event will take place at the Coupeville Recreation Center located in the lovely seaside village of Coupeville, Washington. Admission is $10 per individual and $25 per family. There will be some amazing items and services to be auctioned, from deep sea fishing trips and beach cabin stays to art glass and local businesses goods and services!
